‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Trailer: Are You Ready For More Ultra-Violent Super-Spy Adventures?

kingsman the golden circle trailer

There are quibbles to be had with director Matthew Vaughn‘s Kingsman: The Secret Service, but it has such a fresh, bizarre, and anarchic energy – it’s easy to forgive the hiccups and speed bumps and embrace the bigger picture. When the credits roll, you’re ready to see more ultra-violent spy adventures starring this crew. With the set-up out of the way, a sequel can hit the ground running and sprint directly into the craziness of the first film’s third act.

The first Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer has arrived and, at first glance, it appears to live up to the first film’s audaciousness.

The survivors of the first movie are back (remember, part one did wipe out a not-insignificant percentage of the world’s population), with Taron Egerton once again starring as Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, the street tough turned dashing gentleman spy. Sophie Cookson‘s Roxanne “Roxy” Morton and Mark Strong‘s Merlin, who also made it to end credits with breath in their lungs, will once again be on hand to lend support. Strangely enough, Colin Firth‘s Harry Hart, who was deader than dead after being literally shot in the face during the events of the first movie, is also somehow back. Since he was one of the film’s many highlights, that’s a hard thing to complain about.

Here’s the Kingsman The Golden Circle trailer:

Of course, there are plenty of new names tossed into the mix. The title of the movie refers to the USA’s equivalent of the Kingsman, the super-spies from across the pond who utilize deadly lassos instead of tricked-out umbrellas and lean as heavily on American iconography as Eggsy and his allies lean on English tropes. Jeff Bridges is on hand as the leader of the Golden Circle, with Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Halle Berry all playing agents. A batch of photos from the film offered our first look at these characters, with Bridges and Tatum looking like modern day cowboys and Berry looking like a tech geek (albeit, a tech geek who looks like Halle Berry).

The new villain is played by the great Julianne Moore and it’s going to be fascinating to watch her cut loose as the bad guy in a major Hollywood movie. And pop star Elton John plays a big enough part that he’s listed prominently on the poster…not to mention the two robot dogs named “Benny” and “Jet.” What?! This looks like it’s going to be a pretty wild movie…hopefully, that wildness ends up leading to a sequel that is as much fun as the first one.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle opens on September 22, 2017.

20th Century Fox Sets Eight More Release Dates

20th Century Fox Sets Eight More Release Dates

20th Century Fox sets eight more release dates

If release dates for four Avatar sequels and three X-Men franchise films weren’t enough for you this weekend, 20th Century Fox has set set release dates for no less than eight more films. You can click on each of the film titles to learn more.

The studio has moved up Kingsman: The Golden Circle one week from September 29, 2017 to September 22, 2017. Universal’s American Made had briefly moved up from September 29 to September 22 this week, but with the Kingsman change, it has gone back to the 29th.

Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express has been moved up from November 22, 2017 to November 10, 2017.

Steven Spielberg’s The Post (which the studio says is still untitled), starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, will open in limited theaters on December 22, 2017 and will then expand wider on January 12, 2018.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the third film in the franchise, has been moved from January 12, 2018 to February 9, 2018.

Francis Lawrence’s action-thriller Red Sparrow, starring Jennifer Lawrence, has been pushed back from November 10, 2017 to March 2, 2018.

The mysterious The Kid Who Would be King has been set for a September 28, 2018 release date.

Steve McQueen’s Widows adaptation will arrive in theaters on November 16, 2018.

And Bryan Singer’s Bohemian Rhapsody is scheduled to open on December 25, 2018. Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek will play Freddie Mercury in the biopic.

What do you think about these release dates? Is there a project you’re looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.

Fox Confirms 2018 Dates for ‘Deadpool 2’, ‘X-Men’ and ‘New Mutants’, Shuffles ‘The Predator’, ‘Maze Runner’ & More

Deadpool 2 Release Date

This morning 20th Century Fox caught everyone off guard by announcing new release dates for all four of the developing Avatar sequels that will start shooting this summer. But that wasn’t the only release date news the studio had to offer.

Fox has also confirmed the release dates for all of their Marvel movies in 2018, which includes X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 2 and New Mutants. In addition, they’ve also shuffled the dates for The Predator, the delayed Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the remake of Murder on the Orient Express, and the spy thriller Red Sparrow. Plus, they’ve also given a release date to Steven Spielberg‘s next movie.

Get all the updated 20th Century Fox release dates after the jump.

First up, the Deadpool 2 release date is much more prime real estate than its predecessor’s February debut last year. This time the Merc with a Mouth will hit theaters on June 1, 2018. However, it won’t be the first Marvel movie from Fox that year, because they’ve set New Mutants for a debut on April 13, 2018. Then the X-Men line-up will conclude the year with X-Men: Dark Phoenix on November 2, 2018.

Meanwhile, there’s good and bad news for fans eagerly awaiting The Predator from director Shane Black. The bad news is Fox has pushed back that movie from its February 2018 release date all the way back to August 3, 2018. The good news is that’s actually a vote of confidence in the movie. They’re putting it in that first August weekend, which is where the first Guardians of the Galaxy cleaned up at the box office since there’s usually not much competition in the rest of the month. That means they think it’ll be a solid summer release, but they don’t want it to contend with the rest of the blockbuster madness that summer.

Moving into The Predator‘s evacuated February 9, 2018 release date will be Maze Runner: The Death Cure, which had previously been set to come out the month before. The film’s production was delayed when star Dylan O’Brien was injured in a stunt gone wrong. The film was meant to resume production early this year, so either they’ve already started or they will soon and they’ll have the rest of the year for post-production after that.

In addition, the spy thriller Red Sparrow starring Jennifer Lawrence is going to take the actress back to The Hunger Games box office territory by moving from its initial November 2017 release date back a few months to March 2, 2018. The film got some solid buzz when the trailer played at CinemaCon not too long ago, and it should be a solid spring release for the studio.

Taking Red Sparrow‘s old November 10, 2017 release date will be the remake of Murder on the Orient Express, starring Kenneth Branagh (who also directs), Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, Lucy Boynton and more. It could be one that goes for some awards, especially in the acting department.

Also looking for some awards love will be the new film from Steven Spielberg. The press release from 20th Century Fox lists the film as untitled, but it’s presumably the film known as The Post that we learned about just last month., since that’s the only movie the director has set up at Fox. The film will see Spielberg directing Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep in a story about The Washington Post‘s showdown with the United States government over the “Pentagon Papers,” a classified military document that was leaked to the press by military analyst Daniel Ellsberg.

Finally, for those who are itching for the sequel to Kingsman: The Golden Circle, it’s been bumped up just a tad to September 22, 2018, a week before it was supposed to hit theaters. We’re still waiting on a new trailer to hit the web, but it’s on the way, so stay tuned for that and updates on all these films from 20th Century Fox.

Which one of these movies are you looking forward to the most?
