Sony Pictures has debuted a new Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle featurette, which you can watch in the player below.

RELATED: Dwayne Johnson & More Talk Robin Williams’ Influence

In a brand new Jumanji adventure, the tables are turned as four teenagers are sucked into Jumanji’s world – pitted against rhinos, black mambas and an endless variety of jungle traps and puzzles. To survive, they’ll play as characters from the game: meek Spencer becomes a brave explorer (Dwayne Johnson); hulky jock Fridge becomes a tiny genius (Kevin Hart); It-girl Bethany becomes a bookworm professor (Jack Black); and unathletic Martha becomes an amazonian warrior (Karen Gillan). To beat the game and return to the real world with their lives, they’ll have to start seeing things in an entirely different way.

The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle cast also includes Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff and Morgan Turner.

Bad Teacher and Sex Tape helmer Jake Kasdan is directing from a screenplay by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers and Scott Rosenberg & Jeff Pinkner. Matt Tolmach and William Teitler are producing with David Householter, Jake Kasadan, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Ted Field and Mike Weber executive producing.

Sony Pictures will release Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in theaters on December 20, 2017.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Featurette: Cate Blanchett Is Fantastically Evil as Hela, Goddess of Death

Thor Ragnarok Featurette

Earlier this week, we brought you another interview from our visit to the Australian set of Thor: Ragnarok, this time with none other than Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, playing Hela, the goddess of death. The actress is the first female villain to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she’s clearly going to create a lot of problems for the god of thunder and his homeworld of Asgard.

So far, the trailers for Thor: Ragnarok have shown us the impressive powers Hela as she destroys Thor’s trusty hammer Mjolnir (though the setting of that scene has apparently been changed), and now a new featurette shows more of the villain wreaking havoc on Asgard, bringing Karl Urban into the fray as Skurge, and facing off with Thor himself.

Watch the Thor Ragnarok Featurette

The featurette in question reveals more footage of the reshot sequence where Hela destroys Mjolnir. As we previously recounted, the scene in question has been moved to an area with rolling green hills instead of a dark city alley. The new footage has Hela telling Thor (Chris Hemsworth), now accompanied by Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in this scene, to kneel to their new queen. Obviously, they’re going to refuse, and that’s probably not going to sit well with Hela.

Other footage on display seems to show Hela destroying some kind of mural featuring Asgard, Odin and more. This will likely come after Hela has already blasted Thor and Loki to Sakaar during a confrontation while in the middle of the Bifrost Bridge teleportation, allowing her to create chaos in Asgard with little consequences. As for how Hela returns to power after being banished from Asgard to begin with remains to be seen, but some have theorized that it involves another Infinity Stone.

Thor: Ragnarok is written by Eric Pearson and directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople), and you can read our interview with the filmmaker from our set visit right here. Plus, check out our full set visit report for even more details on the Marvel sequel.

Tickets for Thor: Ragnarok are already on sale, and you can buy them right here.

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok”, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok- the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization- the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger- the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.

Go Behind-the-Scenes in New Featurette for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

“I’m hoping it’ll be a little shocking. But I’m hoping it will feel real and honest.” Lucasfilm has dropped a brand new behind-the-scenes featurette for Star Wars: The Last Jedi at their D23 Expo presentation this weekend. Like the behind-the-scenes featurette for The Force Awakens, this includes a whole bunch of new footage and looks at various characters/aliens/scenes we haven’t seen anything about yet. And oh my goodness does it look magnificent. I can’t wait!! Daisy Ridley returns as Rey, with John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, and Warwick Davis. Newcomers include Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and others. There’s so many questions I have after watching this. But that’s the point – it’s an exhilarating tease that will keep our interests piqued while we wait until release. Fire this up below. ›››

‘GLOW’ Featurette: Watch the Netflix Series Stars Do Their Own Wrestling

Glow Featurette

Netflix is bordering on belligerent with the amount of content the streaming service has been offering to its subscribers lately, and if you’re looking to stay on top of it all, you should wipe your weekend plans because today marks the release of yet another full season of television. The 1980s-set series GLOW, which is loosely based on the real-life low-budget wrestling show “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling,” hit the streaming service earlier today and has earned some great reviews thus far.

But before you binge the whole first season, take a look at a new GLOW featurette that showcases the stars doing their own stunts in the ring.

GLOW Featurette

Aside from the setting, this reminds me of Orange is the New Black: a diverse group of women at the end of their rope are joined together through unusual circumstances that result in deep friendships. And that parallel is clearly no accident, considering Orange is the New Black producers Jenji Kohan and Tara Herrmann are on board as executive producers.

I’m not into wrestling at all, but this definitely looks like a show I’d love. To me, the key to the whole thing looks to be finding the balance of having entertaining and outrageous characters who possess relatable motivations. Everything I’ve seen and heard about the show indicates that the creative team knocked that out of the park, and the near-universal acclaim seems to corroborate that theory.

GLOW is created by Liz Flahive (Homeland, Nurse Jackie) and Carly Mensch (Nurse Jackie, Weeds), and stars Alison Brie, Marc Maron, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, and Ellen Wong.

Inspired by the short-lived but beloved show from the 80s, GLOW tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling. In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin), a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture perfect life turns out not to be what it seems. At the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling super stardom.

The ten-episode first season is available to stream right now.

New Featurette for ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Takes Us Behind-the-Scenes

Blade Runner 2049 Featurette

“The story. The themes. The stunning visual environments. It was a pleasure getting back to the world of Blade Runner again.” Warner Bros has unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette for Blade Runner 2049, the sci-fi sequel directed by Denis Villeneuve. This is easily one of our most anticipated, and the more they show us, the better it looks. Holy crap. This direct sequel takes place 30 years after the original story, and stars Ryan Gosling as the new LAPD Officer who must find Deckard, who has been missing all this time. Harrison Ford returns to play Deckard, and the new cast of 2049 also includes Ana de Armas, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis, Robin Wright, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, and David Dastmalchian. All the footage in this looks stunning, and I love that everyone in this video talks about how daunting and impressive every aspect of it is. I’m so happy this movie looks this amazing. Cannot wait. ›››

‘Blade Runner 2049’ Featurette Reveals Stunning New Footage, Making Of the Movie

Blade Runner 2049 featurette

“We want people to look at it and say, ‘Wow that’s a beautiful shot. How did they get it?’” visual effects supervisor John Nelson says in the new featurette for Denis Villeneuve‘s Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic, Blade Runner.

That’s how I spent much of the time watching the featurette, which showcases more of the film’s stunning cinematography, courtesy of Roger Deakins, and establishes Blade Runner 2049 as the most visually breathtaking movie of the year. New footage delves into the story of Officer K (Ryan Gosling) and Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford, returning to his famous role), as well as gives us a hint at characters that we hadn’t yet seen.

Watch the Blade Runner 2049 featurette below.

The exclusive featurette from People opens on Officer K playing a futuristic juke box from which pops up a hologram of Frank Sinatra, moodily singing as Officer K wanders through an abandoned lounge. Deckard shows up, gun raised, and they warily greet each other. Watch it here:

The story of Blade Runner 2049 follows Officer K, Los Angeles Police Department officer who discovers a grand conspiracy to destroy all of civilization. This sets him off on a mission to find Deckard, who has been missing for three decades — roughly the time that took place between the first Blade Runner and its 2017 sequel.

“When I dreamt the original Blade Runner over 35 years ago, I could never imagine how iconic it would still be,” Ridley Scott, who directed the original film and executive produces the sequel, says.

The featurette continues with interviews from cast members, including Ford, Gosling and Jared Leto, as well as the technical crew in charge of the visuals and art.

“I have massive respect for Ridley Scott’s world. Blade Runner revolutionized the way we view science fiction,” Villeneuve says. “I’ve never felt so much pressure on my shoulders, thinking Ridley Scott would see this movie.”

But art director Paul Inglis assures us that Blade Runner 2049 won’t be simply playing into nostalgia for the original Blade Runner. “It’s not just a replica of the first film,” Inglis said. “We’re marrying the familiar with the slightly divergent in order to give us an identity.”

Apart from the behind-the-scenes shots of the film, we see new footage of Officer K and Deckard’s meeting, new grimy and neon-soaked settings, and a brief glimpse at a replicant that looks oddly like Dave Bautista, possibly giving a hint of who he’ll be playing.

Blade Runner 2049

The footage also teases at a deeper mystery surrounding Officer K, with a character telling him “You’re special,” and the footage ominously ending with him staring at his hand, troubled. “This is impossible,” he says.

Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters October 6.

Extended ‘Fan’s Guide’ Featurette Examines ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Spider-Man: Homecoming Featurette

“You have 576 possible webshooter combinations.” Sony has released a boatload of marketing material for Spider-Man: Homecoming, with release less than a month away. The most important new promo is a 22 minute “Fan’s Guide” featurette. It aired on Disney XD and is aimed at younger viewers, but still has lots of cool behind-the-scenes footage and details about the new Spidey movie. There’s another featurette on the new Spidey suit (that Tony Stark helped build) and a fun TV spot, plus a few posters below. Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker, and the cast includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Jon Favreau as Happy, Michael Keaton as Vulture, Donald Glover, Robert Downey Jr., Martin Starr, Logan Marshall-Green, Angourie Rice, Hannibal Buress, and Zendaya. I actually have high hopes for this, it looks damn good. ›››

‘Baby Driver’ Featurette: Real Cars, Real Locations, Real People and Real Driving

Baby Driver Stunt Driving

Nowadays it’s become easy for blockbusters to use visual effects to pull off insane stunts. It’s part of the reason some action movies have become surprisingly mundane. There’s just something that lacks excitement about a stunt you know wasn’t actually done by anything other than a computer. Even the Fast and Furious movies have taken to having more visual effects heavy action sequences when they used to rely on real stunt driving. But thankfully, this summer brings a cure for the common blockbuster.

Baby Driver is the latest film from writer/director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs the World), and a new featurette reveals that the action flick about a getaway driver trying to get away from his chosen profession is chock full of real stunt driving, with real cars, on real locations, with real people. For real.

Watch the Baby Driver stunt driving featurette after the jump.

One of the most exciting aspects of this movie is all the real stunt driving that was done. Reportedly all of the driving stunts in this movie are practical, and even the actors themselves (at least Ansel Elgort and Jon Hamm) had to go through some stunt driving training of their own, as seen in the video above. Some of the stunts featured in this video alone are extremely impressive, especially that 4×4 getting spun sideways under the semi-truck.

The rest of the Baby Driver cast includes Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal and Eiza González, but the real star of the movie is going to be the soundtrack that drives the entire movie. If you want to know more about just how important the film’s soundtrack is to the movie, read the rave review from our own Jacob Hall, who caught the film at SXSW earlier this year.

To see more from Baby Driver, watch the two trailers for the movie right here, and another featurette over here.

A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Baby Driver arrives in theaters on June 28.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Featurette: The Gang’s All Here and Having a Good Time

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Set Photo

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters in less than two weeks and our third most anticipated movie of the summer has been receiving mostly warm notices so far. James Gunn‘s sequel to his 2014 hit looks to double down on everything that made the first movie such a smash: strange but lovable characters, wild action, colorful science fiction, and heroes who spend as much time bickering as they do guarding the galaxy.

And while promotional featurettes don’t necessarily reflect the arduous process of making a big budget feature film, this particular one does make the process of making Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 look like a whole lot of fun.

Anyone looking for grand insights into the filmmaking process needs to look elsewhere. But anyone looking for snippets of new footage and cool behind-the-scenes shots from this massive production will find a great deal to enjoy in the video embed below. The usual suspects are all on hand to provide talking head interviews, but the real fun here involves watching everyone appear to be having a great time on set. Making movies is hard…but playing a galactic superheroes? That’s got to bring a smile to your face.

This featurette is the latest chapter of Marvel Studio’s current marketing campaign, which kicked off last week with the first screenings of the finished film. Since then, the movie news beat has been all Guardians of the Galaxy, all the time. We learned that that the film would have five post-credits scenes, which feels like Marvel dancing on the edge of self-parody. We watched a clip where Drax the Destroyer embarks on an ill-fated plan to battle a monster and another where Star-Lord and Gamora share a romantic moment. The full soundtrack list, titled “Awesome Mix Vol. 2,” was revealed and it certainly seems like a worthy follow-up to the first film’s bestselling collection of oldies. We even broke some news ourselves, discovering which character was originally going to be in the film before he was removed during the scripting phase (he will now play a role in the sequel).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to open on May 5, 2017. It will make every single dollar on planet earth.
