Proud citizen Barack Obama has reportedly been called for jury duty

TwitterFacebook

In his farewell address this January, President Obama said that the “most important office in a democracy” was that of the citizen.

We wonder if he’ll still be saying that after jury duty.

The former president has reportedly been called for jury duty in Chicago’s Cook County, where he is registered to vote. It’s unclear whether he’ll be considered for criminal or civil proceedings — that will be determined once he appears in court next month. Even still, chances are high that, ultimately, he won’t be selected to serve. Read more…

black-ish Spinoff Now Called grown-ish, Gains Series Regulars

black-ish spinoff (formerly college-ish) will now be called grown-ish and has cast three series regulars

black-ish spinoff (formerly college-ish) will now be called grown-ish and has cast three series regulars

FreeformDisney‘s young adult television and streaming network has announced that the upcoming black-ish spinoff formerly known as college-ish will now be called grown-ish. In addition, Emily Arlook, Chris Parnell and Trevor Jackson have been announced as grown-ish series regulars.

Creator and executive producer Kenya Barris said, “grown-ish reflects what we’ll be dealing with in the show – that in-between place where you’re not quite an adult but facing grown world problems for the first time. Where black-ish examines what it means to be black, grown-ish is an examination of what it is and what it means to be grown.”

From black-ish executive producer Kenya Barris comes a contemporary take on the current issues facing both students and administrators in the world of higher education. Yara Shahidi portrays Zoey – Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow’s (Tracee Ellis Ross) popular, entitled, stylish and socially active 17-year-old daughter – as she heads off to college and quickly discovers that not everything goes her way once she leaves the nest. Yara is joined by black-ish‘s Deon Cole (Charlie) who portrays Charlie, Dre’s eccentric and unpredictable co-worker at Stevens & Lido. Zoey runs into Charlie during college orientation where she learns that he moonlights as an adjunct marketing professor. Arlook will portray Miriam, a freshman know-it-all at Southern California University with a no-holds-barred attitude. Parnell will portray the dean of Southern California University, and Jackson will portray a socially conscious sophomore at Southern California University.

Kenya Barris, Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland and Brian Dobbins are executive producers on grown-ish, from ABC Studios. The show was written by Kenya Barris and Larry Wilmore.

What do you guys think of the new title for the black-ish spinoff? Are you interested in grown-ish? What do you think of the new series regulars? We want to hear from you! Leave your thoughts in the comments below or tweet us @ComingSoonnet.

Disney’s Star Wars Land Appears to Be Called Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars Land - Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

On the eve before the Parks and Resort panel at D23 Expo 2017, it appears that the name of Disney’s upcoming Star Wars Land may have been prematurely revealed. Find out more below.

A few hours ago, an eagle-eyed Redditor noticed that the source code for a post on the official Disney Parks Blog seemed to reveal the official name of Star Wars Land as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Let’s look at the evidence.

First of all, if you type “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge” into Google, complete with the quotations around it to create a more specific search, the first result is the official Disney Parks website:

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Secondly, if you look at that page’s source code, you’ll find this line in there as an alt tag in the HTML:

Previously it was rumored that Disney was thinking of calling the new lands, which are being constructed in Anaheim and Orlando, The Star Wars Experience. This name sounds a lot more cool, and it jibes with the concept of the park itself since the land is supposed to be a remote outpost of the edge of known space in the Star Wars universe. This kind of name also implies that we could get other Star Wars additions in the future with more sections being called Star Wars: Insert Name Here, not unlike how there’s the Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley sections in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

However, even if this title turns out to be the official name (which won’t be confirmed until the Parks and Resort panel at D23 tomorrow afternoon), we still don’t know what the planet will be called where this outpost exists in the Star Wars universe.

No matter what the name of the Star Wars Land at Disney parks is going to be, it will be positively huge when it opens. I know I’m already anticipated choosing a side in the Star Wars universe, either as a member of the Resistance or the First Order. Plus, being able to fly the Millennium Falcon is a lifelong dream that will finally be realized, not to mention the chance at drinking some tasty blue milk

Anyway, the D23 Expo is in full swing and we’ll have more details on Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge (if that is the real name) when the Parks and Resort panel unfolds tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned for all our D23 coverage on the way.

What should the Han Solo movie be called? Here are the best options.

TwitterFacebook

This much we can tell you for sure: the still-untitled Han Solo spin-off movie will not be called “Red Cup.”

That’s the working title, a nod to the fact that George Lucas named Solo’s character for the plastic drinks brand. (True story.) But what about the actual title for the standalone film, which as of Tuesday is scheduled for May 25, 2018? Thus far Lucasfilm has it shut up tighter than a smuggling compartment on a Corellian freighter.

This much is likely: the movie name will be officially announced at Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm’s lovefest for fans, this April in Orlando. It’s a favored location for the company to dispense delightful secrets.  Read more…
