Christian Bale in New Full-Length Trailer for Wild West Film ‘Hostiles’

Hostiles Movie Trailer

“You have no idea what war does to men.” Entertainment Studios has unveiled a new full-length trailer for Scott Cooper’s wild west thriller Hostiles, which will hit theaters in December at the end of the year. Set in New Mexico in 1892, the film follows a legendary Army captain who reluctantly agrees to escort a Cheyenne war chief and his family through dangerous territory. Christian Bale stars as Captain Joseph J. Blocker, and Wes Studi stars as Yellow Hawk. It’s described as a “heroic odyssey of survival” that “becomes a story not about the miles traveled nor the battles fought, but the journey towards respect, reconciliation, and forgiveness.” The cast includes Rosamund Pike, Ben Foster, Peter Mullan, Jesse Plemons, Stephen Lang, Q’orianka Kilcher, Timothée Chalamet, and Rory Cochrane. This premiered to great reviews in Telluride, and looks like a solid, dusty action thriller. This trailer actually makes me want to see this film. ›››

Dick Cheney Biopic: Christian Bale, Steve Carell, and Amy Adams In Talks

Dick Cheney Biopic: Christian Bale, Steve Carell, and Amy Adams In Talks

Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Amy Adams are in talks to join Adam McKay’s Dick Cheney biopic

Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Amy Adams are in talks to join Adam McKay‘s untitled Dick Cheney biopic, according to Variety. Sources tell the site that Bale would be playing the former Vice President. Carell would play Donald Rumsfeld and Adams would play Lynne Cheney.

Cheney is regarded as one of the most powerful and influential U.S. Vice Presidents in history, having served under (and, as many regard, OVER) George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. The former Halliburton chairman/CEO — who also served in the Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush administrations — was a hawkish proponent of the War on Terror and the Iraq War, and eventually left office with a 13% approval rating. He was previously portrayed by Richard Dreyfuss in Oliver Stone’s 2008 film W.

“I’ve always found Cheney fascinating,” McKay previously told Deadline. “”Questions of what drove him, what his beliefs were; but once we started digging I was astounded at how much he had shaped modern America’s place in the world and how shocking the methods were by which he gained his power.”

McKay has reportedly spent “countless hours” researching the former VP for the Dick Cheney biopic.

Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B will produce the Dick Cheney movie with McKay and his Gary Sanchez partners, Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick. He began development on the Cheney movie shortly after winning his Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for The Big Short last year year.

New Official Trailer for ‘The Promise’ with Oscar Isaac & Christian Bale

The Promise Trailer

“If it’s not safe for me, then it’s not safe for any of my people.” Open Road Films has released another new official trailer for the historical romantic drama The Promise, set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire. The film follows a love triangle in Turkey/Armenia between Michael, a brilliant medical student, the beautiful and sophisticated Ana, and Chris – a renowned American journalist based in Paris. Starring Oscar Isaac as Michael, Christian Bale as Chris, and Charlotte Le Bon as Ana. Also featuring Angela Sarafyan, Shohreh Aghdashloo, James Cromwell, Jean Reno, Rade Serbedzija, and Michael Stahl-David. I’m no more interested in this than I was with the first trailer. It seems like an odd attempt to tell the Armenian genocide story with a Hollywood cast. But it’s hard to pass up a movie with Isaac and Bale. ›››
